A professor of mine in college was a U Chicago graduate. He was under the impression that the university maintained one of the largest private security forces in the country, as part of policing the borders between the university and the rest of Hyde Park. It'd be interesting to know the role of the university in transportation policy as well - why isn't it easier to get to from other parts of the city etc - as opposed to Loyola, Depaul, and to some extent even Northwestern, it's hard to get to the U Chicago area from other parts of the city.
